Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) sent waves of excitement through the global gaming community today by unveiling the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection, an exquisitely crafted limited-edition hardware suite commemorating thirty years since the original PlayStation console first launched in Japan on December 3, 1994.
The special anniversary lineup drapes modern PlayStation hardware in the unmistakable two-tone retro grey finish of the 1994 original. The design features the classic four-color PlayStation family emblem, micro-textured geometric controller face symbols embossed into the chassis plates, and vintage-style cable housing reminiscent of original controller plugs.
Strictly Limited 12,300-Unit PS5 Pro Collector's Bundle
The crown jewel of the collection is the PlayStation 5 Pro 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Bundle. In a direct nod to the December 3 launch date, Sony is manufacturing strictly 12,300 units worldwide, each laser-engraved with its individual serial number on the console casing, transforming it into an immediate holy grail for hardware collectors.
The premium Pro package incorporates a 2TB SSD, matching retro-grey DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers, a DualSense charging dock, a console cover for the optional disc drive, a vertical stand, and exclusive physical bonuses including PlayStation cable ties, a paperclip, and an original collector poster.

Retro Aesthetics Expand Across DualSense and PlayStation Portal
Recognizing high consumer demand, Sony is also releasing nostalgic editions of more accessible hardware. The 30th Anniversary aesthetic will be available on the standard PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (1TB), standalone DualSense controllers, and the PlayStation Portal remote player, allowing wider access to retro-styled gear.
Global pre-orders open on September 26, 2024 through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers in select territories. The full collection will officially launch on November 21, two weeks after the worldwide debut of the standard PS5 Pro on November 7.
