Data Deletion and Account Closure

A practical guide to requesting deletion of an account, messages, subscriptions, comments, or other personal data.

Effective and last reviewed: 21 July 2026

How to make a request

Send a request through the contact page or to privacy@newscrestle.com from the address connected to the account. State whether the request concerns an account, newsletter, comment, contact message, or all identifiable records. Do not send passwords, government identity numbers, or unnecessary sensitive documents.

Identity verification

Deletion can affect rights and security, so we may verify control of the relevant email or account. Verification is proportional to risk. If the original address is unavailable, we may ask for non-sensitive details that reasonably connect the requester to the record.

What happens next

We acknowledge the request, identify relevant systems, apply legal exceptions, delete or anonymize eligible records, notify processors where required, and confirm completion. Account access may be disabled early to prevent new activity while deletion propagates through active systems.

What may be retained

Limited records may be kept for fraud prevention, security, legal claims, tax, consent suppression, compliance, or freedom-of-expression obligations. Public comments may be anonymized rather than removed when preserving the integrity of a discussion is lawful and appropriate. The response will explain material exceptions.

Backups and search engines

Deleted information may remain in encrypted backups until scheduled rotation and is not restored except for disaster recovery. Search engines and third-party archives operate independently; we can remove or update the source page but cannot directly erase every cached copy.

Timing, appeals, and contact

Requests are completed within the period required by applicable law, subject to permitted extensions for complexity. A requester may challenge an outcome, provide additional evidence, or complain to a competent data-protection authority.

Questions may be sent through the contact page. Editorial tips use tips@newscrestle.com, corrections use corrections@newscrestle.com, privacy and deletion requests use privacy@newscrestle.com, and copyright notices use legal@newscrestle.com. Messages should include enough detail for the team to identify the page, account, or material concerned.
