Reporting an error
Send the page URL, disputed passage, explanation, and supporting evidence to corrections@newscrestle.com. A precise report can be reviewed faster than a general objection. Polite disagreement with opinion is not automatically a factual error.
Review standard
The editor checks the original source, publication context, later developments, and the evidence supplied. Relevant authors or affected parties may be consulted. Speed matters, but a correction should not introduce a second error.
Types of change
Substantive factual errors receive a visible correction describing the incorrect and corrected information. Clarifications improve wording that was technically accurate but reasonably misleading. Updates add later facts. Typographical fixes may be silent when they do not change meaning.
Translations and syndicated copies
When the English source changes, linked translations should be updated and revalidated. A translation-specific error may be corrected without altering the source. We make reasonable efforts to notify controlled copies, feeds, or partners when a significant correction affects them.
Appeals and transparency
A requester who disagrees with a decision may provide new evidence or ask for a second review. Abusive repetition does not accelerate a case. We do not remove accurate material simply because it becomes inconvenient, but we consider privacy, safety, and legal obligations.
Contact and accountability
A policy is useful only when readers can test it against observable conduct. NewsCrestle therefore displays authorship, publication and update dates, stable URLs, correction channels, translation notices, and source links where appropriate. Material changes to this document are dated, and earlier commitments continue to govern activity that occurred while they were in force.
