Capcom commanded the spotlight at the kickoff of Tokyo Game Show today at Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan. The Osaka-based video game publisher unveiled an extensive playable exhibition for its highly anticipated action-RPG 'Monster Hunter Wilds', attracting thousands of enthusiasts who waited in multi-hour queues for hands-on gameplay.
The showcase marked the largest public consumer hands-on demonstration of the title, allowing players to test its seamless open-world hunting mechanics, dynamic weather transitions, and cross-platform multiplayer across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
Next-Generation Ecosystems and Dynamic Hunts
During a headline stage presentation broadcast in multiple languages, series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yuya Tokuda took to the stage to detail the game's Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest biomes.
Demonstrations highlighted how shifting seasons radically alter monster behavior, resource availability, and environmental hazards, compelling hunters to constantly adapt tactical equipment and mount strategies.
“We designed Wilds to make the world feel alive in ways never before possible, where living ecosystems interact naturally with hunters in real time.”
Record Global Attendance at Makuhari Messe
The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) reported an opening-day attendance surge fueled by international media, content creators, and foreign visitors following Japan's complete tourism normalization.
Capcom confirmed that worldwide pre-orders will open in the coming weeks ahead of its scheduled global simultaneous release in early 2025.
