Electronic Arts officially launched *EA Sports FC 25* worldwide on Friday across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch, marking the second annual installment of the publisher's rebranded football simulation franchise. Following a seven-day early access window for Ultimate Edition players that logged tens of millions of matches, the global release brings more than 19,000 licensed players, 700 clubs, and 30 leagues to virtual pitches.
Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham fronts the global Standard Edition cover as the youngest solo cover athlete in EA Sports history, while Ballon d'Or Féminin winner Aitana Bonmatí joins Bellingham, Zinedine Zidane, David Beckham, and Gianluigi Buffon on the Ultimate Edition artwork.
5v5 Rush Replaces Volta with Fast-Paced Social Matchplay
The centerpiece gameplay addition in *FC 25* is "Rush," a fast-paced 5v5 small-sided experience that replaces the street-styled Volta mode and is fully integrated across Football Ultimate Team, Clubs, Kick-Off, and Manager Career. Retaining authentic 11v11 ball physics on a condensed pitch, Rush allows four human players to team up with an AI-controlled goalkeeper, featuring sprint-to-the-ball kickoffs, blue-card temporary sin bins, and offside lines restricted to the attacking third.
Complementing Rush is "FC IQ," the most comprehensive tactical foundation overhaul the series has seen in over a decade. Powered by artificial intelligence models trained on real-world match data from sports analytics provider Opta, FC IQ replaces legacy work rates with more than 50 dynamic "Player Roles" that dictate how every footballer positions themselves on and off the ball.

FC IQ Tactical Overhaul and Women's Football in Career Mode
For the first time in franchise history, Career Mode features full parity for women's club football, enabling managers and players to take charge of teams across five top-tier leagues: England's Barclays Women's Super League, Spain's Liga F, the NWSL in the United States, France's D1 Arkema, and Germany's Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga, alongside the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Career Mode also introduces "Live Start Points," allowing players to jump into real-world 2024–25 league storylines mid-season—such as taking over a club after a mid-season managerial change or navigating an injury crisis—while HyperMotionV volumetric capture continues to drive realistic player movement on current-generation consoles and PC.
